Western fitness is what I have been teaching since 1988. Aerobic classes, strength training, and cardio were the basics of my specialties.
After I turned 30 my body began to change, pain crept up, muscles were not strong that should be, my memory seemed to be slowing. I did not feel my best.

I began searching for remedies to "fix" myself and nothing was working. I went to great chiropractors & physical therapists, but the information was incomplete.
Eventually, I found energy work, and the power of a calm mind and relaxed body. Eastern medicine has been extremely beneficial in helping me, as well as my clients, move forward. Practicing energy work helped me to find courage to change, start my company, fix my ailments, and be a better fitness professional. So what I offer is the best of both worlds.

The Core Belief
Most people have tight muscles because they really are trying too hard. Start with calming the body. Then like a peaceful warrior, face the world every day with the muscles and brain ready to take action.
Tenseness is messy, difficult, and requires more effort, time and energy. "Clarity is power."

For muscles to be pain free, they must pull on the joint in the right way, going from a relaxed "center" to a contracted state, and back again - to the center. When that begins to go out of alignment, muscles begin to create pain.
So...sometimes muscles need to be released, and sometimes they need to be strengthened. Its not just about fitness, strength and cardio, to heal. The process is also about relaxation, meditation, and letting go.

Personal training: you are never trained to depend on a trainer at Freedom Road Fitness & Yoga, you will be given your workouts and you can practice them at your own gym or at home.
Your workouts will be geared towards your musculoskeletal misalignment, and we will begin the process of alignment, which brings more ease of movement.
If you are too tense and tight, we will begin the process of opening and lengthening, if you need strength, we will begin there. Need both? Weāre on it!

"I was looking across a huge boulder saddle that I needed to climb through in order to summit the Pfeiffer Horn, just a half mile or less away up a very steep slope. I wondered if I could reach the tops of the boulders and swing my legs up and over without falling off the side and down the talus slope on either side. I remembered Laura's encouragement during an intense workout session saying that, 'yes, this is hard, but you can do it. You can do anything for 30 seconds.' This was just a whole series of 30 seconds, and I knew I could do it.
